PP411 Jaydee's Sketch

Hi friends! It's Sunday and that means time for a new challenge at The Paper Players. This week the wonderful Jaydee is our hostess with a sketch challenge. I love the simple lines of her sketch; they leave so much room for interpretation.

I followed the sketch pretty closely, and took this opportunity to make a couple of masculine birthday cards which I was in need of. There are lots of birthdays in my family in September and October (one of them mine). I used some Stampin' Up oldie-but-goodies, and was inspired by this card by Sheri Gilson. I loved the contrast of the modern chevron paper with the organic stamped images. I continued the circle element with my sentiment and a few enamel dots. It's nothing fancy, but I think it all works well together for a guy-card.

Stamp Sets: Wetlands, Uncharted Territory, Petite Pairs
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Patterned Paper: Modern Medley
Ink Pads: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Versamark
Tools: Big Shot, Heat Tool, Circle Punch and Dies
Accessories: White Embossing Powder
(all Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please leave a comment, and then head over to visit the rest of the Design Team at The Paper Players. We hope you'll play along with our challenge this week, too!

I think this is awesome....not too much chevron at all! And I love anything in silhouette, so it's a win-win for me!

Good guy card. I like the contrast of the bold chevron and the more gentle natural elements, as you say. But there's also a contrast of light and dark that helps focus attention on the image and therefore the sentiment. Very stylish, Sandy.

I love your chevron card, Sandy! The focal image and sentiment are a perfect contrast to the sharp angles of the chevron. The enamel dots are the perfect accent!

Sandy, I love the monochromatic colors and the chevron paper is fabulous as a background for your silhouetted scene. I also love the fact that, although you made it for a masculine recipient, it could also work for any gender. Fabulous card. Thank you for rocking my challenge this week

I love this card Sandy! Chevrons can be tricky to use but they balance your naturalistic image beautifully. Great monochromatic colour scheme too. A perfect male card!

I just love the chevron paper with that clean image. A wonderful masculine card, all around. The enamel dots are a great touch to add some detail while still keeping the card crisp and clean. Love it! :)
