Reach for the Stars

Hi everyone! It's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time around it is an Anything Goes birthday card, the choice is yours, as long as it is a birthday card!

I spent waaaay too much time on this card, but I should add that I am the slowest stamper ever. It took me one night to decide on a design, another to create my galaxy background, and yet a third to figure out how to use the Chibi Lights. They aren't all that complicated, like I said, I am just slow in execution :) Somewhere along the way I got a tiny cut from the copper tape, and you know what's coming... a drop of blood on my white clouds. Augh! Miraculously I was able to get it off with a sand eraser, something Jennifer McGuire said we all need, so I purchased one. I've never used it until now, and it worked great!

This is what the card looks like lit up. Fun, isn't it?! I made this card for my DD, and I think she liked it a lot. I certainly had fun making it!

I'm also sharing this card at Lawnfawnatics, where they'd like us to try a new technique. I tried two techniques for the first time: the galaxy background, and making a light-up card!

Stamp Sets: Hello Sunshine, Happy Everything, Lucky Stars, Push Here (Lawn Fawn), Say It Birthday (Technique Tuesday)
Card Stock: Smooth Watercolor CS (Bristol), Solar White (Neenah)
Ink Pads: Versamark, Tuxedo Black (Memento), Dusty Concord, Black Soot, Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks (Ranger)
Tools: Big Shot, Hello Sunshine Dies (Lawn Fawn), Pierced Cloud Dies (Avery Elle), Heat Tool
Accesories: White Embossing Powder (Simon Says Stamp), White Acrylic Paint (Target)

I'm so glad you paid me a visit today! If you have a moment please leave a comment, then visit the rest of the wonderful Design Team at Seize the Birthday. We'd love for you to play along, too!

Inky hugs :)

This is awesome Sandy! I've tried a few cards using the galaxy background technique and I love it, but I haven't yet dared to try the Chibi lights! I want to, but I'm scared! Great job!! XO, Crystal

This is your first galaxy sky? If so, then you are an instant pro! Love the light-up feature, too... except for the part where you sustained a work-related injury. Glad you were able to remove the evidence! Just a gorgeous and fun card.

Wow, cool galaxy card. I have a little Chibi set that I haven’t used. I’m intimidated by the wiring! Your card is super!

First of all, I am in awe of the galaxy background and if that was not enough, you put Chibi lights in it too. I am short of breath. Love it all.

This is fabulous whether it took one day or three! You are in good company as I am the slowest stamper too! I fret over color and placement for hours! Thanks for the tip about the eraser! Glad you were able to save it! Super card!!

This is amazing!!! I love the background and the birds are so cute! I'll have to track down one of those sand erasers. Hope the cut wasn't too deep.
