Uncharted Wetlands, SIP44

Hi friends, and a happy Tuesday to you! I'm happy to report that the weather on Long Island has been glorious for the last few days, finally! Speaking of Long Island, Justin has a great inspiration photo for us this week at Stamp Ink Paper. It's a photo of the lighthouse on Fire Island, a barrier island off the coast of Long Island. I've been there many, many times.

I was inspired by the wetland scene and setting sun to create my own scene doing some masking and sponging. The sentiment and birds are from the Uncharted Territory stamp set, and the sea grass from the Wetlands stamp set.

I punched out a circle and used it as a mask and then sponged the sky. Some post-it tape worked perfectly as a mask for my horizon. I kept sponging and adding more color until I was satisfied with the result, and then stamped the other images and sentiment. I have to say, I'm really happy with the way it came out. It looks so peaceful; I wish I was there!

  8. I CASE'd your card to use for my grandfather's 90th birthday. I love how it turned out. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in stamps and dies that we forget the simple power of ink!
