Happy Sunday, everyone! I love Sundays, especially this one, because my sweet DD and I are going to a bead show today! Yes, just another one of my crafty addictions. I barely have time to make jewelry any more, yet I have enough beads to wrap around the globe once or twice! I really love our time together at the show, and we'll be sure to come up with a few creations afterwards. Any other beaders out there?
Today at The Paper Players, the amazing Nance Leedy is our hostess, and she has chosen Clean and Simple Watercolor for the theme of our challenge. I love to watercolor! I must admit though, I was stumped for a while as to how to do it on a clean and simple creation. I roamed the web for a while for inspiration and an idea was born.
First of all, a big shout out to my wonderful and witty friend, Darnell Knauss of djkardkreations. On her most recent NBUS challenge, I was the fortunate recipient of a gift card to Simon Says Stamp, which was burning a hole in my pocket - day one! With it I got this beautiful Butterflies stamp set and matching dies. Thanks, Darnell! Mwah!
Now, about my card... I found this amazing video tutorial on how to do Watercolor Stamping with a buttefly stamp. I used my new stamp set with some Mini Distress Inks. I inked the butterfly stamp with Antique Linen Distress Ink, just on the edges. I stamped it on to watercolor card stock to create a border, then I proceeded in my attempt to color it in. The first two tries ended up in the trash, but I hope this one is a bit more acceptable. It looks better from far away, lol!
Butterfly completed, I went in search of a layout. The one at Freshly Made Sketches was perfect, and also perfect for a CAS creation. Though I used some patterned paper in the background, I hope the center panel has enough white space to keep it 'clean'. Along the left side of the panel, I used a marker and a piercing template to give the illusion of piercing.
