White Christmas Sneak Peek for STS27

Happy Tuesday, Stampers! This week at Seize the Sketch, the very talented Cathy Santie has an awesome and simple sketch for us! I'm also sad to say that this will be the final challenge at STS. I have been so honored to work with this amazing design team and will continue to follow all their wonderful blogs. A big thanks to Lesley Croghan for inviting me to participate. Hugs!

Now, on to my creation. After perusing my most recent stamp purchases, I decided that this little scene from White Christmas would work perfectly, though I had to stretch the squares into rectangles.

I stamped the entire image with Black Stazon onto Whisper White, then again onto scrap paper. I masked off the ground, then sponged the sky lightly with Pool Party ink. The trees were colored with Baked Brown Sugar and a Blender Pen.

The little cardinals were also colored with a blender pen, cut out by hand and adhered with a glue pen. I love that there are two cardinals in this set so you can have them face each other. Finally, I glittered up the trees and the snow with some Dazzling Diamonds. Yes, me the glitter phobe! Some projects are just calling out for glitter!

Please join our final challenge at Seize the Sketch and say goodbye to the rest of the wonderful Design Team!

  7. Sandy, I love that you created a diptych from this set. I wouldn't have thought of separating the image, but it works fabulously. I love the little bits of sparkle and the pop of red with the cardinals. Fabulous card.

  9. You must have laser vision to fussy cut those cardinals! They are so perfect in your wintry scene. So often in January I look out the window at my house and see something just like this. A stark red bird on a mostly white landscape. You've captured the scene perfectly! I'm so glad we got to play together for a while at STS. I'm sure we'll see each other around the stamping block!

    1. Hi, Donna! Yes, I used a two way glue pen for the glitter. I shot the last shot on an angle so you see the sparkle but the glitter isn't quite so chunky IRL!

  15. Sandy, I love the simplicity of the card. And yet once you pay closer attention, there is so much detail. I have to confess to being the only person on the planet not to order White Christmas. *sigh* It is definitely on my next order.
