Dictionary Birthday Greetings, FM169, CTD301 & DS159

Greetings, Stampers! I'm very excited today because I've been asked to be a Guest Designer at The Friday Mashup

Here's the Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using a "Background Stamp".
  • Create a project with "something 3-D on it".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "project with a 3-D element and a Background Stamp"

I tried really hard to mash things up and add a 3D element to my card but nothing would cooperate and I ran out of time! I did use my Dictionary background stamp. I was in the mood for something a little vintage so I shabbied things up by doing some distressing and sponging some of the edges in Crumb Cake.

I was in need of a color scheme and layout, which I found at the challenges at Color Throwdown and The Deconstructed Sketch.

The flowers are stamped with the Flower Patch stamp set and cut with coordinating Flower Fair Framelits. A little linen thread behind adds some texture, and a few pearls finished off my butterfly.

Stampin' Up Products Used:
Stamp Sets: Dictionary, Flower Patch, Wetlands
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Soft Sky
Designer Series Paper: Subtles Stack
Ink Pads: Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Smoky Slate
Tools: Big Shot, Flower Fair Framelits, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Distressing Tool, Stampin' Spoge
Accessories: Pearls, Linen Thread

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check out the amazing creations at The Friday Mashup, where you will also find a special tip from me about using background stamps!

Inky hugs :)

(and how long did it take you to breathe again after your son left? My daughter hasn't even left yet and the lump in my throat wont go away LOL)

Sandy, what a lovely card! It has a great vintage look to it (I think the Dictionary stamp is perfect to achieve that look, and it's my favorite go to background stamp). I'd say you managed the 3-D part just fine. Your layer of leaves, linen thread (love that look), the flower and popped center, not to mention your butterfly fit the bill perfectly. Thanks for joining us as a guest designer and sharing your tip with us too. :)

So very pretty, Sandy! Love the background with the linen thread peeking out behind the flower. The Birthday Greetings banner is perfect in the layout. Thanks so much for being our Guest Designer this week at The Friday Mashup:)
