Chocolate and Roses for The Paper Players

Hi there, friends! This week at The Paper Players, the amazing Anne Marie has an especially fun challenge for us. She's like us to create a Valentine card or 3D project with a food or treat theme. Woo hoo! I love it!

I don't have any candy themed stamps (I know, how can that be?), so I went the direction of the 3D project. I decided on a simple 3x3 box, and thought this would be the perfect reason to try out my new Spiral Flower Die for the first time. Oh. My. Gosh. I love this die! I think you'll be seeing lots more of it in the coming weeks. I filled my box with my own personal favorite, Dove Dark Chocolate Hearts. Yumm.

With the box closed, you can see that I made three larger roses in Real Red and three buds in Whisper White. Everything is held together with hot glue to make it nice and stroing.

Here is a close up of the flowers. Aren't they gorgeous?! So easy to make, too. I don't want to clutter up this post with too many details so I'll be posting more specific details later in the week. For now, I'll just let you know that the red roses are two layers of the spiral die cuts and the white rosebuds are one layer, rolled a little more tightly. In both cases I spritzed the card stock with water and scrunched it up to break down the fibers and make the card stock more pliable. You can see what the die and spiral look like unrolled, below.

Stampin' Up Products Used:
Stamp Sets & Ink Pads: None
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Real Red, Pear Pizzazz
Tools: Big Shot, Spiral Flower Bigz Die, Delicate Doilies and Little Leaves Sizzlits, Small Heart Punch
Accessories: Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Red Glimmer Paper
Other: Hot Glue Gun

Thanks for stopping by! Please leave some inky love in the form a comment!

Please visit the rest of the Design Team at The Paper Players, too, and we hope you'll play along this week!

  1. Very lovely! I'm slapping my forehead for not thinking of using two of the flower die cuts together, for a lusher rose. TFS!
