Romantic Roses for Mom, PP178 & TSTR200

Greetings, friends! LeAnne is hostess this week at The Paper Players and she has a great color challenge for us to play along with. I was initially daunted by the combination, but the more I looked at it, the more it made me think of a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Once I had that image in my head, I couldn't get the Romantic Rose Stamp out! I really love this long-retired stamp, and purchased it because I knew Mom would love cards made with it. She was a florist and adored flowers of all kind but especially roses. Though she is no longer with us, I'm dedicating this card to her. Miss you, Mom!

I couldn't resist playing along with the challenge at The Shabby Tea Room, too. The theme is "So Romantic" and they ask that you use roses in your project. Though I don't have quite as much white space as the inspiration photo, I thought my Romantic Rose stamp was perfect for the challenge.

I stamped the image onto Watercolor Paper with Black Stazon Ink and colored it in with ink pads and an Aqua Painter. The Crushed Curry Ink was watered down quite a bit and was used only as a shadow. The sentiment from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set was a bit too large to fit inside the oval punch, but the Oval Framelits were just perfect.

  1. Sandy, this is gorgeous and what a lovely tribute to your Mom. I am in awe of your coloring--shaded so perfectly and I love the doily accents. Also really like how you covered the entire card front in DSP--gives a great look! You really rocked these colors! ((hugs))
