For My Beloved Mother

Greetings, Stampers. Apologies for going missing in action on you once again, but I'm sad to say that my mom passed away last week. I hadn't been back home long after my husband had been ill, when I got a phone call from my sister telling me that mom was in bad shape and near the end. I was happy to be there with her during her final days. Mom was 95, and she was laid to rest alongside my father, who passed nine years ago.

Though I've posted these pages once before, I wasn't happy with how the photos came out and also wanted to share them once again in honor of Mom. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, and I inherited my love of creativity from her.

I'd never been able to come up with the words to add to the journaling section of these pages. Mom lived such an amazing life, I never knew where to begin, much less squeeze it into two small sections. I'm inspired now to finish them, though, and will make it my project for this week.

As you can see, these photos are very, very old. (Click on any image to make it larger, if you like). Mom grew up in Germany, which is where all these pictures were taken. She was quite pretty, don't you think?

She was an only child, as the only sister she would have had died of Diptheria before she was born. Those were hard days and I can only image what it was like. Since she had no siblings, she was very close to her cousins, two of which are pictured on these pages.

I wanted to keep the pages neutral to keep the focus on the photos. These pages feature the Elements of Style stamp set, which I think works beautifully for scrapbook pages. The floral images were stamped with Basic Gray ink, then colored lightly with Crumb Cake ink and a blender pen.

Stampin’ Up! products used:
Stamp set: Elements of Style
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray
Designer Series Paper: Neutrals Stack
Ink pads: Basic Gray, Crumb Cake
Tools: Stampin Sponge, blender pen, Scallop Trim border punch, Scallop oval punch, 1 3/4" x 7/8" Oval punch
Accessories: Very Vanilla tafetta ribbon, Mini Vintage Tags, Pearls Basic Jewels

Inky hugs!

So sorry for your loss. My mother also died at 95, but even then we're not ready to let them go. Beautiful pages for a beautiful lady. You inherited her beautiful smile. Keep your head up through these troubles. They will come to an end, and you'll be able to return to your daily life.

I think your pages are a beautiful tribute to your pretty mother, Sandy, may she rest in peace. I especially love the one of her with the giant bow in her hair. It looks like she may have on ballet shoes, so the bow may have been part of a recital costume? Just adorable!

Life is, indeed, a matter of moments. Your post was well-said so I think you will find the words to journal your pages in a lovely manner.

Take care and I hope things get really boring for you the rest of this year, if you know what I mean. Mwah! Darnell
