Baby Whale for RS60

Hi, Stampers! My neighbors just had a baby last week, their third child and the first boy, named after his Dad. I know they are so excited, and did I need a better reason to make a card?

I am guilty of having several products from the Stampin' Up Spring Catalog in my possession that have never ever been used. Aggh! I hate when that happens, but I've been a bit busy... So making their first appearance are the: Oh, Whale Stamp Set, Happy Whale Clearlits, and Pool Party Embossing Powder. I love them all so much; what have I been waiting for!

I don't know how your thought process works, but when I'm making a card I first go through by list of holidays, birthdays and occasions to see what I need. Then I go looking for inspiration with a sketch challenge, a color challenge, or both. This time I was inspired by the lovely layers of this week's Retro Sketches sketch challenge. A great sketch like this is really versatile, and it was perfect for my baby boy card.

The whale was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder. You can't see it in the photo but he's shiny :) He was cut out with the Happy Whale Clearlit. The waves and spray were stamped with Island Indigo ink and cut out by hand. I thought the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder made a cute background.

I made a matching envelope, of course...
