Greetings, Stampers! It's Monday, the start of another new week, hopefully a productive one for all. It will be a busy week for me. Today and tomorrow my DH and I are finishing with his doctor's appointments and packing things up here in Florida. Wednesday we'll start the drive home to New York. So if you don't hear from me for a few days, you'll know why!
I've been having fun playing with sponging and masking techniques lately, and here is another card along those lines featuring the Serene Silhouettes Stamp Set. I stepped it up a notch by adding heat embossing, and I have to say I love the results.
This week at The Friday Mashup, it's their 100th challenge anniversary! Everyone is invited to chose one of their previous 99 challenges to play along with. I scrolled through them and stopped quickly at challenge #5, Embossing Nature. I "mashed it up" by creating a nature inspired card with embossing on it. Why did I chose this challenge? Well, I love all things nature inspired and Lisa provided a really inspiring photo.
To make the focal image, first I masked the sun image with a circle and sponged around it with So Saffron Ink. I masked the horizon with another piece of paper and sponged with Island Indigo Ink, sponged off a bit for a lighter shade of the color. I reversed that mask and sponged the "land" in the background with more Island Indigo, full strength this time. The grassy area was sponged with Lucky Limeade. Then I stamped the trees in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder.
