For the Birds, Paper Pieced

Greetings, all! I barely got this card finished in time to post it today and enter it in the two challenges I created it for. I've been enjoying a stay-cation week with my family, and boy have we been busy! More about that and some photos in a future post, but for now I thought I'd share a picture of my poor little Oreo, who had an injury in the midst of all our running about.

We have no idea how he did this, but somehow one of his claws got bent backwards (I know, ow!) and it was not only bleeding but slightly infected. So, off to the vet he went and had it removed. He's been hopping around on three paws, and is gazing out the back door wishing he could go outside when this picture was snapped.  He'll be fine; he's just a little unhappy at the moment.

OK, now about my project: The Paper Players has a fun challenge this week, and that is to use paper piecing in a clean and simple project. Clean and simple mine is, using only one stamp, one ink pad, two colors of card stock and one kind of designer paper. Plus a couple embellishments, of course. No Big Shot, punches, or fancy techniques were used, just the paper piecing. As a result, this card came together in a jiffy. Which was great, because I was really tired last night!

The layout I used is compliments of Retro Sketches, and was the perfect layout to feature a tower of birds. It was also the perfect layout to compliment the clean and simple challenge.

Aren't these birds just adorable paper-pieced? I took a real close up shot so you could see the subtle patterns in the DSP. I stamped the image once on Whisper White Card Stock in Black Stazon Ink (my favorite black ink, if you haven't already noticed). I stamped again on three different patterns of DSP from the Floral District pack. Paper Snips are the perfect tool to fussy cut them out, and the Two Way Glue pen is the perfect adhesive.
