Reason to Smile for Freshly Made Sketches

Greetings, Stampers! I wanted to share  a card with you today that features the Reason to Smile Stamp Set, and remind you that this set is only available for a few more days, until July 31. I also have a quick tutorial to share, so be sure to scroll all the way down to the end of this post to check it out.

The layout was inspired by this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch, created by Cindy Hall. The color scheme of Pretty in Pink, Raspberry Ripple and Old Olive came right off my Stampin Up Color Coach.

The pretty flowers were stamped onto Whisper White Card Stock with Black Stazon Ink. I colored them in with ink pads and an Aqua Painter. I used a 2 1/2" circle punch to cut the circle, and the Scallop Trim Border Punch to make the scalloped edge. I learned this trick from my good friend Antoinette, and stepped it up with a new product. Here's how:

Start with the circle of card stock and stamp your images. You'll also need some strips of card stock punched with a border punch. You'll need about 9" of trim to go around a  2 1/2" circle. The secret ingredient to this recipe is the Jumbo Sticky Round, available through Stampin' Up beginning August 1.

The Jumbo Sticky Round has adhesive on both sides. Peel the liner off one side and attach the circle of card stock to it.

Using your paper snips, cut the straight edge of the trim almost to the scalloped edge at equal intervals, as shown. This will allow you to curve the card stock.

Now, turn the circle over and peel the liner off the other side, revealing the other layer of adhesive. Attach your trim, bending and turning at each cut. Continue around until the edge of your circle is completely covered with trim. That's it! Your finished product now already has adhesive in the center, so you can stick it right onto your project.
