One of my must-have stamp sets from the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog was By the Seashore. I'm always on the hunt for sets that work well for masculine cards, and this set is just perfect. I kept this a clean-and-simple monochromatic card, and I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.
I tried out a new tool for the first time with this project, the Stampin' Spritzer. It's a great new tool that comes in a package of two for $2.95. With it, you can create your own color spritzer using water or alcohol and Ink Refills or Shimmer Paint. I filled my spritzer with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and rubbing alcohol and 25 drops of Island Indigo Ink Refill. I read from other demonstrators afterward that it may work better with just straight rubbing alcohol, so I'll try that next time and keep you posted. (No pun intended!)
To create my stamped images, I first stamped the shells in Island Indigo Ink onto Very Vanilla Card Stock. I stamped off a second time on scrap paper, and cut out the images to create a mask. I placed the masks over my images using temporary adhesive, then spritzed with my Stampin' Spritzer. I found it worked best if the spritzer was aimed at the scrap paper just to the right of my card stock, not right over it. This gave a more subtle spritz. Of course, I recommend practicing on scrap paper, first.
