Cowboy Cookie Mix In A Jar

What a great gift item a cookie mix in a jar is, especially when it is decorated a la Stampin' Up! My son discovered this recipe (adapted from a recipe on allrecipes.com) and made a bunch of jars last year for gifts. I thought I'd borrow the idea and put my own little spin on it.

The fabric used to decorate the lid is Spice Cake Designer Fabric from the Holiday Mini Catalog. The stamp for the tag is from the Sweet Season Stamp Set. Isn't it just perfect? Inside the tag are the easy directions.

Here is the recipe:

Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar

Ingredients
1 1/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 unsweetened shredded coconut
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1/2 coarsely chopped pecans
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions
Layer the ingredients in a one quart jar in the order given. Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next layer.

Include a card with the following directions:

In a medium bowl, mix together 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir in contents of jar. Shape into walnut sized balls. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool on wire racks.

Yumm, they are just delicious. I should know, I have been munching on warm cookies as I typed this post!
