A Good Reason To Get Started On Your Holiday Cards

Operation Write Home Holiday Deadlines

If you need a good reason to get a jump start on your holiday cards, here it is: Operation Write Home. You've never heard of Operation Write Home? Here is a little information about them:

Our Mission:
Supporting our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.

This merry band of thousands of cardmakers is made up of Americans - and citizens of other nations too - who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007...and are on the way to a landmark one MILLION cards!

If you want to participate and show your support for our military, you can send one card or 100 cards, they are all appreciated. The two biggest rules for sending cards to OWH are 1. No glitter, as it is a safety hazzard and 2. Send only A2 sized cards (4 1/4" x 5 1/5"). For more information about their guidelines, click here.

OWH needs time to collect and distribute cards for the holidays, and they need to be received by the shippers by the following dates, though I'm sure the shippers would appreciate receiving them sooner!

Sept. 16: Halloween
Sept. 30: Thanksgiving
Oct. 31: Christmas
Nov. 30: Any Hero Christmas
(Any Hero Christmas card are cards that you can address to an unknown service member, to thank them for their service).

Aside from holiday cards, they are always in need of other cards such as birthdays and thank you's. Remember, they are using these cards to write home with so masculine, feminine and juvenile cards are all appropriate. Click here to find out where your nearest shipping location is.
