Kraft Gift Box and Paper Bow

As promised, here I am with another Sneak Peek! This little gift box and paper bow was so much fun to make. It looks like it took forever, but really came together very quickly.

The Kraft Gift Boxes are a new product offered in the Holiday Mini Catalog, and will be available September 1. They are $2.95 for a package of four (what a steal!). This is what one looks like after it has been assembled but prior to decoration.

To decorate a box as I did, first, cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to a 12" x 2" strip. I used the new Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper, also available Sept. 1. Apply some Snail adhesive to the side you don't want to show. Starting at the front, attach just an edge and wrap around the box. It won't make it all around, and does not have to, as the front will be covered by something else.

Next, cut a piece of Wild Wasabi Card Stock 2 1/4" x 3 1/4. Cut another piece of DSP 2 1/8" x 3 1/8". Adhere the DSP to the card stock, and then attach to the front of the box. This will cover up the edges of the previously wrapped DSP.

For the top of the box, cut Wild Wasabi card stock 3 1/4" x 3 1/4", and DSP 3 1/8" x 3 1/8". Adhere to one another, then to the top of the box. That's it, a beautiful box! So easy. Now, of course, you may want to add a few embellishments, as I did.

For the front, I adhered a small piece of Real Red Satin Ribbon. This was an afterthought, so I had to carefully pop off the card stock and put it back on again. Then, I colored a stamp from the Beautiful Season Stamp Set with markers, and punched it out with the Curly Label Punch. I punched two more Curly Labels from Real Red Card Stock, cut each in half, and mounted to the back of the first label to make a border. One little Rhinestone Jewel adds a little sparkle.

I added a handmade paper bow to the top using the opposite side of the same DSP. One 12x12 sheet of DSP is enough to make the bow and decorate the box, with a little left over. I began doing a tutorial for the bow, then thought that your probably would prefer to see the YouTube video from the artist I learned this technique from. I have not ventured into the world of YouTube videos yet, but it is on my to-do list, for sure! So, here is the video:

And there you have it! You can put this entire project together in less than an hour. It's a very impressive package, I think. It may even compete with the contents!

What a great project. And you're right, it looks difficult to put together, but really not that tough at all once you walk us thru it. It would make a very impressive gift under the tree.
