I designed this card for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge, which is a sketch. I used two new colors which are about to be offered in the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog which will be released July 1. The new colors are Pool Party and Island Indigo. Don't you just love them together? The addition of a little Very Vanilla cardstock really makes these colors pop.
Fine Flourish is a background stamp which I earned free during Sale-A-Bration earlier this year. This is the first time I have really paid it much attention and now I can't put it down! I used a technique called Emboss Resist to create the focal image.
Emboss Resist is a technique that is much easier than it sounds. The first step to heat embossing is always to rub your embossing buddy over the cardstock. That will prevent the embossing powder from adhering to places that you don't want it to be. Second, ink your stamp with Versamark ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Next, sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and heat emboss with a Heat Tool. Once cool, trim your cardstock, if necessary. Finally, grab a Sponge Dauber or Stampin' Sponge, ink it on your stamp pad, and rub over the stamped image. The ink will adhere to the paper only where it was not embossed. Make a few of them, like I did, so you can experiment with different colors.
